Frequently Asked Questions

Planning Your Visit

Whether it is your first visit, you have not visited since you were a kid, or you came last season, here are some of the top questions we get asked about planning a trip to the hill:

We recommend purchasing online in advance for skiing, snowboarding, lessons, and tubing. Not only will it guarantee you a spot, but you will also save with our online prices.

Ski & Snowboard

  • Arrival: When you arrive, you can drop off your skis in the turnaround area near the lodge (be sure to lock them up or leave someone with your equipment), and park in the free parking lot.
  • If you purchased online, you can scan your barcode to pick up your RFID Card at one of our ticket pick-up boxes (quickest) or visit Customer Service at the ticket window or inside the main lodge. Alternatively, if you are renting, you can head directly to the Rental Shop (Across the front deck and the next building over from the lodge), and your card can be printed when you check in for your rentals.
  • If you are taking a lesson, you can head directly to the lesson desk in the main lodge, just past the customer service desk. Our team will get you checked in for your lesson.
  • There are cubbies in the lodge for your belongings as well as lockers. The lockers allow in-and-out access and accept only credit or debit cards. Please leave valuables at home.
  • If you are renting equipment, please sign your release agreement in advance. Our rental team will assist you in getting your equipment properly fitted.
  • Once you have your ticket and your rentals (if required), you can head directly to the lifts to enjoy your day!
  • Don't forget to stop by the cafeteria to fuel up your day!

Tubing

  • Arrival: When you drive in the gates, the tube park will be located directly to your right. Park nearest the building with the black roof.
  • Check in at the Tube Park ticket window to receive your tubing tickets. If you already have an existing Rabbit Hill RFID Card, you can purchase tubing tickets online and head directly to the tubing lift.
  • If you would like to rent a helmet for tubing, they are available at the Tube Park building.
  • Our tube park staff will direct you to the tube park lift and give you a briefing on the tube park rules.
  • Light snacks and drinks are available in the tube park building. If you are looking for warm food or a bigger meal, please visit the main lodge for our full Cafeteria menu.

We strongly recommend buying lift tickets online in advance, you'll save money on every purchase and skip the ticket line. Once you buy online, simply pick up your RFID card at the self-serve Pick Up Boxes outside the Lodge's West Entrance.

If you prefer to buy in person on the day, that's fine too, just visit Customer Service or the ticket windows. Keep in mind that popular days (especially weekends and holidays) can be busy.

Note: Lift tickets bought online must be used within the same season. They cannot be transferred to the following season.

Yes, you will be asked to select your visit date at checkout. If your plans change, email us at [email protected] to update your date.

Our season typically runs from mid-November or early December through late March or early April, depending on weather and snow conditions. Visit our Hours of Operation page for the most up to date information.

Note: Rabbit Hill cannot guarantee a specific number of operating days per season. No refunds or credits are issued for closures due to weather or mechanical factors beyond our control.

Yes! We accept the Access 2 Card. The cardholder pays the regular rate for lift tickets and/or rentals, and their support person receives a complimentary ticket and/or rental. Present your Access 2 Card at Customer Service.

Your RFID Card

Rabbit Hill uses RFID technology in our lift tickets. They are becoming very common at most ski areas. If you have not used one before, this section will answer some of your questions.

Your RFID (radio-frequency) card acts as your lift ticket. It is scanned automatically as you pass through the lift gates; no need to take it out of your pocket. RFID cards can be reloaded online for future visits, so hold onto yours!

To use your card correctly:

  • Place the card on the LEFT side of your jacket (left arm, chest, or front pocket).
  • The card must be the ONLY item in that pocket. Keep it away from your phone, credit cards, and other electronics.
  • Do not bend, punch holes in, or scratch your card.

Pick Up Boxes are located outside the Lodge's West Entrance. You can also pick up your card at the ticket windows or Customer Service desk, or in the Rental Shop.

Visit Customer Service with a valid photo ID. Staff will issue a new card and transfer any remaining purchases to it. The first card is included with your original purchase; replacements cost $5. Once a new card is issued, the old one is deactivated.

Try repositioning yourself closer to the scanner. If it still doesn't work, ask a nearby staff member for help, they're happy to assist!

What to Wear

Dressing properly for the weather will make all the difference in your day! We have some tips below:

Dressing properly will make your day so much more enjoyable! Here are our top tips:

  • Dress in layers: the weather can change quickly outdoors in winter.
  • Wear waterproof or water-resistant outerwear (jacket and snow pants). Getting wet makes you cold fast.
  • Waterproof gloves or mittens are essential. Mittens tend to be warmer for beginners.
  • Wear a ski or snowboard-specific helmet - not only will it keep you warm, they will also protect your head!
  • On very cold or windy days, protect your face with a neck gaiter, balaclava, or high collar. Avoid scarves as they are a safety hazard.
  • For tubing, wear proper winter boots. Ski boots are NOT permitted in the Tube Park.

Helmets are mandatory in our Terrain Park. We strongly recommend helmets for all activities. Rental helmets are available. If you would like one for tubing, arrive at least 60 minutes before your time slot.

Lessons & Snow School

Lessons are fantastic for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities. We offer standard lessons as well as specialty lessons like Terrain Park Lessons.

We strongly recommend it! Our Snow School offers beginner lessons designed to teach you the basics safely and confidently, so you can enjoy your day on the hill. Even experienced skiers can benefit from a refresher. It is recommended that you register for lessons online in advance to reserve your spot; they tend to fill fast on weekends and holidays!

The Alpine Responsibility Code is a set of safety rules that all skiers and snowboarders are expected to follow on the hill. These rules help keep everyone safe and are an industry standard at ski resorts across Canada. Copies are available at Customer Service and posted throughout the resort.

Snow Tubing

We are so excited for the launch of our NEW Tube Park this season! If you are looking for a fun activity, here is some information to make your experience the most enjoyable.

Snow tubing is a fun, no-experience-needed activity where you slide down a snowy hill in a big inflatable tube. Our Tube Park has 6 lanes, and a carpet lift brings you back up after each run. It's great for Ages 4 and up. Each tubing session is sold in timed blocks. We don't guarantee a set number of runs, it depends on how busy the park is. Weeknights tend to be quieter than weekends.

Tubing tickets can be purchased online or at the Tube Park ticket window on the day. We highly recommend booking online in advance. The Tube Park sells out quickly, especially on weekends and holidays.

Arrive at least 30 minutes before your start time (60 minutes during holidays) to allow time for parking and picking up your tickets.

Note: Ski/snowboard season passes include 20% off tubing tickets, but tubing is not included with ski/snowboard passes. Tubing discount vouchers must be redeemed at Customer Service.

Yes, as long as space is available, you can purchase a tubing ticket for the same day. Just remember: ski boots are NOT permitted in the Tube Park, you must change into regular winter footwear before your tubing session.

Yes! Linked groups of 2 or 3 tubes may go down one lane together, but this is subject to snow conditions and may be restricted by Tube Park staff on the day. There is no lap riding allowed, only one person per tube.

During busy periods, guests may be asked to share tubes. When you reach the bottom, simply place your tube in the tube chute for the next guest to use.

Groups & School Trips

We offer Group and School Trips for both skiing and snowboarding. These FAQ's are a great place to start when booking your trip.

Not at all! Rabbit Hill is designed to welcome all skill levels. Our beginner area features large carpet (conveyor) lifts and rope tows ideal for first-timers, and our Snow School instructors are experienced with complete beginners. You'll be in great hands.

On average, allow about 45 minutes from when your group arrives until everyone is geared up and on the snow. We recommend 1 volunteer/supervisor for every 10 students, including at least some who can ski or snowboard.

For beginners, we will conduct their lesson as soon as they arrive on the snow with their equipment.

For all other skiers and snowboarders, we organize them into groups based on their chosen skill level. Lesson times for more experienced participants may vary during your visit, but they will have the opportunity to enjoy the hill until it's time for their scheduled lesson.

It is recommended that all students, no matter their skill level, take a lesson. This helps everyone learn the rules & techniques of the sport. No matter the level, lessons can help make the day a better experience for everyone. The school board often requires lessons, so checking their requirements before your visit is essential.

The Terrain Park is a designated area with man-made jumps, bumps, and obstacles designed for experienced skiers and snowboarders only. For school groups, the Terrain Park is off-limits unless the head group supervisor approves access.

Rabbit Hill staff can assess students' skill levels if needed. Assessments are run every hour on the hour starting at 11 AM. Helmets are mandatory in the Terrain Park at all times.

Yes. Through Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS), several of our instructors are certified to provide adaptive lessons for students with a range of disabilities and support needs.
