We are proud to offer a variety of adaptive snowsports options at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. With a variety of programs designed around different goals, interests and abilities, there's something for everyone to enjoy on the snow.

Adaptive Private Lessons

Rabbit Hill Snow Resort offers Adaptive Private Lessons for participants who benefit from one-on-one or specialized instruction. These personalized lessons support a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience. Please note that participants must be able to participate using standard ski or snowboard equipment, as specialized adaptive equipment is not provided. Those who require adaptive equipment can access dedicated programs through our partner, CADS (Canadian Adaptive Snowsports), which offers specialized support and equipment to help meet their needs.

Cognitively Disabled

Those with Downs Syndrome and other cognitive delays that include below average/decreased ability to learn or retain old and new skills. Students are taught ski/snowboard concepts and skills by breaking tasks into small segments supported by repetition.

Learning Disabled

Those who are able-bodied with average or higher intelligence, but who have learning or behavioural difficulties that interfere with their ability to learn new skills or attend to instruction such as: ADHD, Asperger's, Autism, Defiant Disorders, Tourette's Syndrome, FASD

Visually Impaired

Partially sighted, not requiring a guide.

Hearing Impaired

Partial hearing, use of microphone system for instruction only, not requiring a guide (microphone system to be provided by student)

Those who do not require specialized equipment.

CADS Alberta (Canadian Adaptive Snowsports) helps people of all abilities get on the snow, learn to alpine ski or snowboard, build their skills, and take their abilities to the next level through advanced and competition programs. With its main clubhouse right here at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort, CADS Edmonton is a great option offering alternatives for those requiring special equipment, aids, etc.

CADS weekly program consists of two-hour lessons that run from January to March on Monday nights and Saturday mornings, as well as support for school field trips throughout the season. In a club setting participants create strong connections while having fun learning with friends. Interested in trying it out before joining the program? Keep an eye open for the Slide & Ride event that typically happens early in the ski season.

CADS provides specialized instruction to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:

Cognitively disabled and learning disabled

Visual impaired (total visual impairment or partial sight of 6/60 or 20% field of vision)

Hearing impaired (total or partial hearing impairment)

Disabilities related to Cerebral Palsy and other muscular disorders

3-Track & 4-Track Skiing for single or double above or below the knee amputee or people affected by Polio or Cerebral Palsy who require braces

Sit-Ski for people affected by paralysis (paraplegia or quadriplegia). Students are equipped with a sit-ski and tethered from behind.
